Meetings and Updates Week of July 29 (1)

Here is WisDOT’s webpage for the Corridor Study project. The City has been engaged throughout the process and has been sharing comments and feedback to WisDOT in support of design considerations that:

  • Improve traffic safety
  • Accommodate alternate modes of transportation across the corridor
  • Improve connectivity across highway barriers between neighborhoods
  • Reduce runoff, air pollution, and noise impacts

The Common Council approved this resolution in April with feedback for WisDOT, also described in my April 20th blog post. The City plans to submit final comments to WisDOT on their draft Environmental Impact Statement, in support of the above goals, by WisDOT’s deadline of August 12th.

Note that there are no official construction timelines yet. Construction timelines will be driven by WisDOT’s project prioritization and the State Legislative Joint Finance Committee’s willingness to fund Madison-area projects. City Transportation staff expect that the Madison-area improvements will take several decades to implement, with start dates unlikely until the late 2020’s at the earliest.
